How to resize an image

  1. Step 1: Add your image.

  2. Step 2: Open the Transform panel and type the width you want. The height follows automatically while the aspect ratio is locked.

  3. Step 3: Choose an output format, then convert.

  4. Step 4: Download the resized image.

Why resizing quality matters

Reducing an image means deciding what each new pixel should be, given several old ones. Done badly, the result looks soft or develops jagged, shimmering edges.

Most browser-based tools hand this to the canvas, which uses a fast filter that aliases badly beyond about half size. This tool uses a proper Lanczos resampler with the alpha channel handled correctly, which is why transparent logos come out without the dark halo other tools leave around the edges.

Reducing dimensions is also the most effective way to make a file smaller. Halving both dimensions removes three quarters of the pixels.

Questions

Can I resize without distorting the image?

Yes. The aspect ratio is locked by default, so setting the width sets the height to match. Unlock it if you deliberately want to stretch the image.

Can I make an image larger?

You can, but no tool can invent detail that was never captured. Enlarging works acceptably for small increases and looks soft beyond that.

Does resizing lose quality?

Reducing discards pixels by definition, but good resampling keeps the result sharp. If you then save as JPEG, the format itself adds its own loss; PNG or lossless WebP does not.

Can I resize several images to the same size?

Editing settings apply per image, so set the size on each one, then convert them all together and download the results as a ZIP.
